Who this helps

A gentle fit if ADHD shapes everyday life

For adults in Enfield and London, and online by video across the UK, who want psychological therapy that takes ADHD seriously without reducing anyone to a deficit checklist.

  • Emotional dysregulation and intensity that is hard to settle
  • Executive load — the fatigue of planning, starting, and keeping up
  • Self-esteem after years of being misunderstood
  • Relationship patterns shaped by navigating a world built for different brains

Psychological therapy for adults living with ADHD is about making sense of attention and regulation in context. Many people arrive with emotional intensity, executive strain, and the fatigue of a nervous system that never quite settles — alongside self-criticism, anxiety, low mood, or relationship patterns that have built up over years.

I am Dr Chia Barsen — HCPC Registered Counselling Psychologist and UKCP Accredited Integrative Psychotherapist, including EMDR Europe-accredited practice. This is supportive psychological therapy, not diagnostic assessment or medication prescribing. Sessions are online by video across the UK. I am based in Enfield and serve Enfield and London. This site does not list a street address, phone number, or opening hours; the simplest first step is a short email enquiry.

What we might work on

Emotional dysregulation, executive load, shame or self-esteem after being misunderstood, and the relational cost of ADHD — including when anxiety, low mood, or trauma sit alongside.

How we might work

Integrative psychotherapy, paced carefully. Where helpful I draw on DIT, CFT and DBT skills. EMDR is available when stuck distressing memories are part of the picture. We agree the approach together.

A paced start

The first session is a gentle getting-to-know-you. There is no pressure to tell everything at once. If we are not a good match, I will say so clearly.
